Pastor Colin Jones
Rev. Colin Jones is a native of Columbus, OH and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion in 2003 from Morehouse College. While at Morehouse College, Pastor Jones participated in many things, such as: The Morehouse College Glee Club, placed Honorable Mention in the Otis Moss Oratorical Contest, and participated in the Morehouse College Chapel assistants. As a student, Pastor Jones accepted his call into the preaching and pastoral ministry and was licensed by the New Salem Baptist Church in Columbus, OH in October of 2005. Upon graduation from Morehouse College, he entered Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ and received a Master in Divinity degree in 2006. While actively pursuing his studies, Pastor Jones interned as a Chaplain at the Capital Health System, and the Capitol Corridor Community Development Center, where he worked with teenagers by teaching them life skills and organized job opportunities for them during the summer. Colin has received numerous awards and honors, such as: The Oprah Winfrey and UPS Scholar Award, Recipient of the John Alan Swink Prize in Preaching and Recipient of the Charles J. Reller Abiding Memorial Fund Award.
Upon graduation from Princeton Seminary in 2006, Pastor Jones accepted a call to serve at the Mount Aery Baptist Church in Bridgeport, CT as their first Youth Pastor. Pastor Jones served the Mt. Aery Baptist Church for two years and relocated back to NJ and served as a Prevention Educator and Coordinator of the Roselle Family Success Center, where their mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Along with his esteemed wife, Pastor Jones is the former Pastor of Shaker Heights Community Church in Shaker Heights, OH and faithfully served the congregation for 6 years. He was very actively engaged within the United Church of Christ Denomination by sitting on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Conference Western Reserve Association, and as a Delegate for the Western Reserve Association. Pastor Jones is the former Co-Chair for the Shaker Heights Equity Task Force for the Shaker Heights School System and was responsible for organizing Police and Community Engagement Partnerships. Pastor Jones is a proud Member of the 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland Chapter. Recently, Pastor Jones has had the distinguished honor to be inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers and the Martin Luther King Jr. College of Pastoral Leaders through Morehouse College. In 2011, Pastor Jones was a contributor to an online publication for the National Black Church Initiative.
Currently, along with his exceptional wife, Rev. Imani Jones, the couple are Co-Pastoring the Advent UCC in Columbus, OH. They have been married for the past 16years and they are the parents of Tyshon- 22 years, Dominique- 15 years, and Colin II- 11 years. His deepest desire as a minister of the Gospel is to bring forth real, relevant, and radical ministry to the church, the community, the nation, and the world.
